Robyn Rihanna Fenty, often called Rihanna by the Barbadians is a songwriter and singer. Her hits include Pon de Replay, SOS Umbrella and Take a Bow. Still in her prime, Rihanna has emerged as one of music's most popular artists. Born in Barbados she was raised listening to reggae and started singing while she was young. Her discontent was caused by the turmoil within her home and the constant disagreements with her father. Therefore, she decided to become a music lover. As a teenager she got involved in a music group. Evan Rodgers auditioned her and was awestruck. He asked the girl to make the move from her home in New York in order to make a career of it as a singer which she happily accepted. Rihanna's debut album soon was a huge success and she was called an international sensation. She was a favorite amongst young people due to her lively, foot-tapping music. The result was Rihanna taking up directing. Young and talented, Rihanna is widely regarded as both a teen-idol as well as a fashion icon.
